Frequently asked questions

If you have a question that is not on this list please email us at: info@worldvr.com

1. What is a virtual reality tour?
Virtual Reality Tours (VR Tours) are sometimes referred to as "360° Views" or virtual tours. VR Tours are 360° interactive panoramic images that allow visitors to ‘look around’ real places such as hotel suites, rooms of a home, conference and business facilities, golf courses, inside vehicles, even on the planet Mars! Just about anywhere a camera can go a VR Tour can be made. VR Tours are viewed on a computer and give the viewer a sense of being there without actually being there physically.

2. What is QuickTime? Do I need it?
QuickTime is a complete technology for playing video, sound, animation, graphics, text, music, and even 360-degree virtual reality (VR Tours). QuickTime lets you experience more than 200 kinds of digital media with your Mac or PC so it's a great technology to have on your computer.

3. Should I choose QuickTime or Java or Flash for my web site?
We prefer QuickTime because of its smoother playback and higher overall quality. Java is fast becoming a good alternative to QuickTime and more computers come with Java already installed. Flash though not as high quality for play-back is a good choice if you need to have Flash! We are happy to provide you with the file format of your choice. All three if you like!

4. How do I get QuickTime?
You can get QuickTime by clicking on the "Get QuickTime" banner on the left or just click here.

5. What is Java?
Java is a programming language that works on Macintosh as well as PCs. When you go to a web page that contains Java, a small program (called an Applet) is sent to your computer. This Applet plays the VR Tour. When you quit your web browser the Java Applet goes away. Starbucks also serves java.

6. What's a "plug in"?
A plug-in is an application that extends the built-in capabilities of a Web browser. Plug-ins allow you to view, play, hear, modify, or execute a file over the Internet inside the browser without downloading first and then opening or running it using a separate application. So QuickTime resides on your computer and the plug in for QuickTime allows your web browser to play the VR Tours.

7. I don't have a web site. Can I still use VR Tours?
Sure. VR Tours can work with most software capable of playing QuickTime. This means you can more than likely integrate VR Tours into your PowerPoint or Word presentations.

8. I do have a web site. How do I put these images on it?
When you receive your VR Tours you will also receive instructions on how to integrate them into your web site. It's easy for most Web Masters to do this. If you need help we are here to help you also.

Special Note: Most samples on this website are in Java format however to view some of our samples you will need QuickTime. Your computer most likely already has QuickTime installed. But if for some reason it doesn't you can get it free by clicking on the button below.
